01 / Before you hire
Who will read your Vijayawada test report?
In Vijayawada, the person who reads the report often decides which tester is acceptable, before anyone compares prices. A state department, a tender committee or a regulator may name the kind of auditor; a school board, a hospital owner or a customer usually just wants an honest test. Settle which one you are dealing with first.
If a rule names the kind of auditor
Some readers set the qualification themselves. When a state department hosts a new application on government infrastructure, it may require a CERT-In empanelled auditor to audit the application before go-live, and tenders from public bodies may set the same condition in their eligibility clauses. Regulators can do it too: SEBI's cybersecurity framework, for example, requires regulated entities within its scope to appoint a CERT-In empanelled auditor.
If nothing names one
Private buyers usually fall here: a school management, a hospital board, a trading firm's owners, or a customer sending a security questionnaire. They want an independent test of the systems at risk and a report they can act on, and any competent tester may do the work.
Where to look before you choose a tester:
- The eligibility and technical clauses of the tender or work order.
- The go-live or hosting checklist from the department whose servers will run the application.
- Any circular or direction from your regulator, if you have one.
- A grant, funding or affiliation agreement that mentions security audits.
- The security schedule of a customer contract, or the questionnaire itself.
BERRY9 is not CERT-In empanelled. If any of those documents requires an empanelled auditor, we tell you so on the first call, before any proposal or payment, and that part of the work belongs with a firm on CERT-In's list.
When the documents say nothing either way, ask the person who requested the test to confirm in writing what they will accept. A one-line email now is cheaper than a second test later.
02 / Education and training
Colleges, schools, coaching centers and training institutes
Vijayawada is widely known as an education center, with engineering and degree colleges, schools and a large coaching and training trade drawing students from across the region. Their systems hold marks, documents and fee records for students who are often minors, and the weak points are fairly consistent from one institution to the next.
Student and parent portals
Attendance, marks, fee dues and certificates sit behind a roll number and a password. A common serious flaw is the one in the illustration: a logged-in student, or a parent, changing an identifier in the request and reading someone else's record.
Examinations and results
Question banks, internal assessment entry, hall tickets and the moment results go public are where integrity matters most. We test who can see a paper early, alter a mark after it is locked, or publish before the exam cell signs off.
Admissions and fee payments
Online application forms collect certificates, caste and income documents, photographs and payment details from applicants who are often minors. Uploaded documents left at guessable links, and fee receipts that can be edited or replayed, are the findings to look for.
Paid courses and recorded classes
Coaching centers and training institutes increasingly sell recorded lectures, mock tests and study material through a website or an app. The question there is commercial as well as technical: can a student without a paid batch stream the videos, or share one login across a hostel?
Campus networks and Wi-Fi
Computer labs, office machines, CCTV recorders and student Wi-Fi often share one flat network. A tester on the student network checks how far a curious student can reach; Wi-Fi itself has to be tested from within range on campus.
Shared vendor platforms and old sites
A hosted college management product is often shared by several institutions, so a weak setting in one tenant can expose another's data. Admission microsites from past years, still online and long forgotten, are the other usual gap.
Schools hold children's personal data, which the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 treats with extra conditions, such as verifiable consent from a parent before processing. The Act does not prescribe a penetration test; it expects reasonable security safeguards, and a dated test of the student systems is one way to check them. Our DPDP Act security testing page covers this in detail.
03 / Hospitals and diagnostics
Hospitals, clinics and diagnostic lab chains
The city's hospitals and diagnostic labs serve patients from a wide surrounding region, and much of their work now runs through software: registration, lab results, imaging, pharmacy and billing. These are the places a test of a hospital or lab chain usually looks.
Show details for Hospitals, clinics and diagnostic lab chains
Lab reports sent by link
Diagnostic chains send results as PDF links by SMS, WhatsApp or email. If the link carries a sequential number, or never expires, one patient's report can lead to every other patient's; this is an early check on any lab portal.
Hospital information system roles
Doctors, nurses, front desk, pharmacy, billing and the insurance desk each need a different slice of the patient record. The test signs in as each role and tries to see or change what that role should not, from the screens and from the requests behind them.
Collection centers on one central server
Sample collection points and your branch clinics usually reach a central system over the internet or a VPN. Each link is a way in: we test what an outsider sees of that server, and what a machine at a collection point can reach once it is connected.
Appointment and teleconsultation apps
Booking, video consultation and prescription apps carry health data on the phone and through an API. We look at session handling during a consultation, at what stays on the device afterward, and at whether the backend enforces which patient a doctor may open.
Imaging and connected equipment
Scanners, analyzers and imaging archives often sit on the same network as office PCs and run software that is hard to patch. The first step is mapping what can reach them and from where. BERRY9 tests the hospital network around that equipment, not the devices or imaging systems themselves.
Billing, insurance and third parties
Bills, claim files and discharge summaries move between the hospital, insurers, third-party administrators and outsourced billing vendors. The integrations and shared folders that carry them are tested for who else can read them.
Health records are personal data under the DPDP Act, so the same duty of reasonable security safeguards applies to a hospital or a lab. HIPAA, a US law, matters only when an Indian hospital or service provider handles protected health information for a US healthcare provider or health plan, for example in outsourced billing or transcription work.
04 / Trade and agri-business
Traders, mills and distributors on ERP and billing software
A trading business rarely thinks of itself as an IT target, yet its accounts, rates and dealer balances live in software that is reachable from outside. The table shows common gaps in offices like these.
Show details for Traders, mills and distributors on ERP and billing software
| Where it shows up | What can go wrong | Test |
|---|---|---|
| The accounting or ERP server reached from home | Remote desktop or a vendor's support tool left open to the internet, with a password reused since installation, lets anyone who guesses it into the books. | External network test |
| Desktop billing clients | Billing software installed on counter PCs often talks straight to the database with one shared account, so any user of that PC can read or change every invoice. | Thick-client testing |
| Dealer and distributor ordering portals | A dealer changing a party code in the request to see another dealer's rates, credit limit or outstanding balance. | Web application testing |
| The office network and its Windows logins | Accounts of people who left years ago, one administrator password on every PC, and a file share that everyone can write to. | Internal network and Active Directory |
| Backups | Backup drives and folders reachable from the same office network as the server they protect, so ransomware that reaches one reaches both. | Internal network test |
Vijayawada has long been a trading and transport center for the Krishna delta's farm produce, and rice millers, seed and fertilizer dealers, wholesalers and transport firms tend to run their business on a mix of accounting software, a few office PCs and a router nobody has looked at since it was installed. Testing the internet-facing part of that, a handful of public IP addresses, is usually the cheapest useful place to begin.
A business that takes card payments online should also know where PCI DSS stands. Its requirement 11.4 covers penetration testing, but whether that requirement applies to a given merchant depends on how the merchant validates its compliance, which the payment provider or acquiring bank usually sets.
05 / Software for departments
Local software firms building for state departments
Vijayawada sits in the capital region Andhra Pradesh is developing around Amaravati, and local software firms build and maintain applications for state departments and public bodies as well as for private clients. For them, the useful test is the one that happens before the department's own audit.
Show details for Local software firms building for state departments
Test before the formal audit
A department's audit at go-live is the wrong time to discover broken access control. An independent test while there is still time to fix things lets the formal audit, whoever performs it, start from cleaner code.
Citizen-facing portals and their APIs
Applications for services, grievances, certificates and payments are often a web front end over an API that mobile apps and other departments also call. Every endpoint is tried with each role's token and with none, because the API is where object-level checks most often go missing.
The code itself
A review of the source traces each weakness to a file and a line. It suits a team that maintains one codebase for several departments, where the same mistake would otherwise ship again in the next module.
Cloud and hosting accounts
Staging servers and demo environments for department reviews tend to live in a public cloud account, with copies of real data. We check the identities, storage and network rules of the accounts you control.
Our report helps your team fix problems before handover. If the department requires a CERT-In empanelled auditor for the go-live audit, the BERRY9 report does not replace that audit, and we say so in the proposal.
Firms that also sell to private customers may be asked for ISO 27001 evidence. Our ISO 27001 penetration testing page explains where a test fits into an ISMS.
06 / Proof
Judge the method and the report, not a client list
A list of client names says little about the test you will get. We would rather show you what you will receive and how the work is done, and let you judge that.
Show details for Judge the method and the report, not a client list
Two reports, two readers
The executive report is written for a principal, a hospital administrator or a business owner: the scope, the findings in order of risk and the fixes that come first, in plain words. The engineering report gives whoever fixes it the detail.
Proof for every finding
Each one comes with a working proof of concept, its CVSS 3.1 rating, reproduction steps and the recommended fix.
A matrix for closure
A remediation matrix lists each finding with an owner and a status until it is fixed.
How we test, phase by phase
Five phases, from scoping and reconnaissance through vulnerability identification and exploitation to reporting, written out with what each phase produces.
What a report looks like
An illustrative report with the same layout yours will have, so the people who will read it can judge it before you sign anything.
This site shows no client names and no client results. BERRY9 signs an NDA on request, and every test we run is listed on the offensive security services page.
07 / Delivery
Served from Hyderabad, the nearest big city
BERRY9 has one office, in Hyderabad; there is no BERRY9 office in Vijayawada, and no tester works from the city. Hyderabad is the nearest big city, but for most tests distance does not come into it: the work travels over the network, and the meetings happen on video calls.
Done from Hyderabad over the network
Websites, portals, mobile apps, APIs, cloud accounts and public IP addresses are reached over the internet, the same way an attacker would reach them. Nothing is installed at your premises.
Internal systems through access you control
For an office or campus network, you set up a VPN login or a small jump host with an ordinary user's rights. It is switched off the day testing ends.
A visit when the work needs one
Wi-Fi, a lab or hospital network with no remote path, and equipment that cannot leave the building need a tester at your Vijayawada site. That visit is agreed during scoping. Its travel and accommodation are charged at cost, with the sum written into the proposal ahead of the first test day.
What we ask of you before testing starts:
- A named contact who can be phoned during testing if a system misbehaves.
- Test logins for each role in scope, such as student, teacher and exam cell, or front desk, doctor and billing.
- The testing windows, so exams, admissions, outpatient hours or month-end billing are left alone.
- Anything that must not be touched, written into the scope.
For a typical scope, the testing and both reports need 5 to 10 working days once kickoff is done; a bigger estate takes longer, and the proposal gives the dates. The readout of findings happens on a video call. The readout call can be held in Telugu for managers who prefer it.
08 / Price
VAPT price for a Vijayawada business
Two starting prices cover everything, each before 18% GST. Which one applies depends on whether the target is a small, fixed set of public assets or a system where different people log in to see different data.
Starter scope
Starts fromINR 9,000 + 18% GST
The starter scope is priced from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest.
Read the VAPT cost guidePortals, networks and apps
Starts fromINR 27,000 + 18% GST
Every other test starts from INR 27,000 + 18% GST: a student or patient portal, a dealer portal, an office or campus network, a mobile app or a cloud account.
Ask for a proposal3 to 5 external IP addresses on a trading firm's office connection, or the WordPress website of a coaching center, fit the starter scope. Anything with logins for different kinds of user, such as students and teachers or patients and doctors, starts at the higher figure. Both numbers are starting points, and the written proposal after scoping sets yours.
What raises the figure for a Vijayawada scope:
- More kinds of login: every role, from parent to principal or from patient to pathologist, is another boundary to test.
- More locations: a head office with collection centers or several campuses on separate networks.
- More front ends: a website, an Android app and an iOS app over one backend count as three.
- Days on site, for Wi-Fi or networks with no remote path, which the proposal lists separately.
Each kind of test has its own pricing logic, explained in our guide to what VAPT costs in India.
The starting price for small scopes includes one free retest. For larger scopes, the retest terms are written into the proposal before work starts.

11 / FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about scope, price and how testing works. For anything else, call +91 86868 92922.
Where is BERRY9 based, and how is a Vijayawada client served?
BERRY9 has no office in Vijayawada or anywhere else in Andhra Pradesh; our one office is in Yellareddyguda, Hyderabad. Vijayawada clients are tested remotely from there, and a tester comes to the site when the work needs it, for example for Wi-Fi or a network with no remote access.
What is a VAPT specialist, and what does one do?
A VAPT specialist is a security tester who finds weaknesses in your systems with your written permission and then proves which of them an attacker could really use. Vulnerability assessment is the broad search, usually helped by scanners; penetration testing is the manual part, where the tester signs in as different users, abuses business rules and shows the impact. The result is a report with each finding and its fix.
Can BERRY9 take the work if our tender asks for a CERT-In empanelled auditor?
No. BERRY9 is not CERT-In empanelled, so we cannot meet that condition and we will say so before you pay anything. If the tender or the department only asks for an independent security test, without naming empanelment, we can do the work. See the section on Who will read your Vijayawada test report? above.
We run billing or ERP software on a few office PCs. Do we need VAPT?
A small office is still worth one basic check. If the accounting server can be reached from outside for remote work, or the router has never been reviewed, a test of your public IP addresses shows what an attacker sees. That fits the starter scope, and an internal network test can follow if it finds a way in. See the section on Traders, mills and distributors on ERP and billing software above.
Can you test a hospital or diagnostic lab's systems?
Yes. We test patient and report portals, the hospital information system role by role, the links between collection centers and the central server, appointment and teleconsultation apps, and the billing and insurance integrations. What may be touched during patient hours is agreed in writing before testing starts. See the section on Hospitals, clinics and diagnostic lab chains above.
Does a school or college need a penetration test under the DPDP Act?
The DPDP Act does not name penetration testing. It requires reasonable security safeguards for personal data, and it sets extra conditions for children's data. A test of the student portal, admissions and fee systems is a practical way for a school or college to check those safeguards and keep a dated record of the check. See the section on Colleges, schools, coaching centers and training institutes above.
What will VAPT cost a Vijayawada SME?
A small business with a simple website or a few public IP addresses pays the starter rate, which is from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest. Portals, networks and apps start from INR 27,000 + 18% GST, and the written proposal after scoping fixes the figure. See the section on VAPT price for a Vijayawada business above.
Is a Hyderabad firm close enough for on-site work in Vijayawada?
Yes. Hyderabad is the nearest big city, and a visit for Wi-Fi testing or an internal network without remote access is planned during scoping and written into the proposal. Everything that can be reached over the network is tested from Hyderabad without a visit. See the section on Served from Hyderabad, the nearest big city above.
