Network penetration testing in Vijayawada

Most Vijayawada campuses, hospitals and trading offices run a single network for staff, students, devices and guests, frequently with shared folders no one has reviewed. We test the outside and then the inside from Hyderabad, and visit when radio range or a device requires it.

01 / Local need

Why Vijayawada campuses and offices test their networks

Open campuses and shared folders make small networks surprisingly exposed.

A college campus has labs, a library, hostels and staff offices on connected networks, with Wi-Fi that thousands of students use. A hospital joins clinical, billing and visitor networks, and a diagnostic lab links collection centers to a central server. A trading or milling business runs an office network with shared folders holding ledgers and rate lists. These networks were rarely designed; they were extended, one cable and one access point at a time, by whoever was available.

The test shows what a stranger could reach from the internet and what a student, a visitor or a compromised PC could reach from inside. With only one IT person at many of these sites, the engineering report is a short ordered list that one person can follow, and the story goes in the executive report. For the technique see the network penetration testing page; for local buying habits, VAPT services in Vijayawada.

Shared folders deserve a mention of their own. In offices of this kind the most valuable files, such as ledgers, rate lists and scanned documents, sit in a folder that everyone can open because it was easier than setting permissions. A test finds those folders in minutes, and fixing them is usually the cheapest improvement available.

02 / Scope

Campus and office networks behind our Vijayawada work

Six kinds of environment cover most of the engagements.

  • Campus networks

Labs, library, hostels and offices on linked networks. We test what a student's device can reach and how staff and student networks are separated.

  • Campus and hostel Wi-Fi

Wireless used by thousands. We test encryption, isolation between users and what a connected device can see; a short visit helps for the radio part.

  • Hospital and lab networks

Clinical, billing and visitor networks, and links to collection centers. We test segmentation and which systems a visitor or billing PC can reach.

  • Trading and milling offices

Office networks holding ledgers and rate lists. We test shared folders, backup servers and the accounting machine.

  • Internet-facing devices

Routers, firewalls, remote-access gateways and mail servers. We list public addresses and test firmware, settings and authentication.

  • Software-house networks

Offices that build for departments. We test developer machines, build servers and the separation of client work.

03 / From our guide

From our guide: shared folders and what we find in them

Shared folders quietly produce many internal findings. The extract below lists what we look for and what turns up.

What we look for

We enumerate every share on every host (CrackMapExec, smbmap), then walk the readable ones recursively. The interesting files have predictable names: web.config, .env, credentials.txt, unattend.xml, sysprep.inf, id_rsa, connection_strings.config, anything ending in .kdbx (KeePass database), and Group Policy Preferences files with cpassword fields (still crackable to plaintext).

Typical findings

  • Domain admin credentials in a deployment script on a share readable by Domain Users
  • Backup files of the SAM and SYSTEM hives, allowing offline credential extraction
  • SQL connection strings with sa-equivalent privileges in web.config
  • Personal data (PAN, Aadhaar, customer records) on an HR share with Everyone read
  • Source code repositories mirrored to a file share with permissive ACLs

In a campus or a trading office, a single readable share is often the shortest route to the most valuable files. The fix, which is unglamorous but effective, is described in the full article on shared folders.

04 / What we find

Weak points we expect in Vijayawada campus, hospital and trading networks

Organically extended networks leave a recognizable set of gaps.

Show details for Weak points we expect in Vijayawada campus, hospital and trading networks
  • Student and staff networks that touch. A student's device that can reach the administration office or the results server.
  • Folders open to everyone. Ledgers, rate lists and scanned documents in a share that any user can read.
  • Wi-Fi without separation. A guest or student wireless network from which other users' devices, printers and cameras are visible.
  • Router and camera defaults. Branch routers and CCTV with the factory login, reachable from the office network.
  • Backups beside the data. A backup server whose share can be read and deleted with ordinary office credentials.
  • Remote access with one password. A remote-desktop or VPN gateway exposed to the internet and guarded only by a password.

Most of these are fixed with settings, not equipment, and the report lists them in the order a single IT person can work through, starting with the cheapest.

05 / Rules and customers

What drives network testing for Vijayawada campuses and offices

Boards, departments and insurers ask in different ways, but all ask about the same network.

A department or tender may require a certain kind of auditor; settle that first. Boards and hospital owners ask whether a student or visitor on the network could reach records. Networks carrying records of minors or patients are also covered by the 2023 Indian data protection law once its rules start in 2027.

CERT-In expects an incident report inside six hours and 180 days of logs. Whether your logs would reveal an intruder is something a test can show, and our CERT-In article explains how to get ready. For a regular routine, the testing schedule article fits an academic year.

06 / How it runs

How a network test fits a Vijayawada academic calendar

Exams and admissions set the quiet hours, and access is arranged once.

  1. Before day 1

    Ranges and route in

Before the work, a call looks for any tender rule, lists addresses and ranges, marks off-limits systems and picks the entry route: VPN login, jump host or small connected device.

  2. Day 1

    Access and exam-safe hours

You allow our addresses and build the route in. We agree hours that avoid examinations, admissions and billing runs, and plan a short visit only if Wi-Fi or a device needs one.

  3. Days 2 to 7

    Outside, then within

Internet-facing devices go first, then whatever a student's or visitor's device can reach, then the shared folders; anything serious is phoned through that day.

07 / Questions to ask

What to ask a network tester about campuses and small offices

These questions suit sites with one IT person and many users.

  • Will you test from a student's or visitor's position, and what can that reach?
  • How will you handle Wi-Fi without visiting every building?
  • Will you look at shared folders and backup servers?
  • Is the engineering report a short ordered list one person can follow?
  • How do you keep heavy checks away from examinations?

08 / Delivery

Delivery of network tests to Vijayawada campuses

Where the work happens

Testing is run from our office in Yellareddyguda, Hyderabad, which is our only office. Outside Hyderabad nothing about these tests needs us in your building; if a customer or a site rule asks for someone present, we come by arrangement and write the travel cost into the proposal.

What you receive

One report is written for management, customers and auditors, and a second, more technical one for the engineers who make the fixes. A walkthrough call covers both, and after your fixes we retest and mark each finding closed or open. Every inquiry gets a reply: we respond within 24 hours.

How to prepare

Test accounts, a staging address, our testing addresses allowed through your firewall and a named contact are what we ask for. The preparation article explains each item, and the one-page checklist (PDF) is a printable version.

If a tender names an auditor

If a tender, department or contract requires an auditor from CERT-In's panel, tell us before we scope the work. BERRY9 is not on that panel, and we would rather say so now than let you find out later. For buyers without that requirement the method and the report are the same. Our article on whether you need such an auditor explains how to read a requirement.

09 / Price

What network testing costs in Vijayawada

Three to five public addresses are a small scope, which comes from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest. Adding an internal network, campus Wi-Fi or several buildings lifts the work into the standard band, from INR 27,000 + 18% GST, scaled by hosts, sites and environments. The VAPT cost guide lists the factors.

The starting price for small scopes includes one free retest. For larger scopes, the retest terms are written into the proposal before work starts.

10 / FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about scope, price and how testing works. For anything else, call +91 86868 92922.

Can you test a campus network without visiting every building?

Mostly. The inside can be reached through a login, a jump host or a device connected in one place, and visits cover Wi-Fi and equipment that needs us close. See the section on How a network test fits a Vijayawada academic calendar above.

Do you test student Wi-Fi?

Yes: encryption, separation between users and what a connected device sees are checked, plus a short visit for the radio part. See the section on Campus and office networks behind our Vijayawada work above.

Will you look at our shared folders?

Yes. They are among the first things we check from an internal position, because they often hold the most valuable files. See the section on Weak points we expect in Vijayawada campus, hospital and trading networks above.

Our IT department is one person. Will the report help?

Yes. The engineering report is a short ordered list, cheapest fixes first, that one person can work through. See the section on Weak points we expect in Vijayawada campus, hospital and trading networks above.

Will testing disturb exams or admissions?

That is what the plan prevents: noisy checks run in agreed hours away from those days, and the written rules name when we stop and ring you. See the section on How a network test fits a Vijayawada academic calendar above.

What would a network test cost us?

A small external test comes from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest; internal or campus-wide tests begin from INR 27,000 + 18% GST. See the section on What network testing costs in Vijayawada above.
