Network penetration testing in Coimbatore

A Coimbatore manufacturer's network may link several mills or units, an office, a stores system, cameras, biometric attendance devices and gateways for connected machines. We test the outside first and then the inside, from Hyderabad, and come to the plant when a device or a radio check needs us there.

01 / Local need

Why Coimbatore plants test their networks

Plants grow unit by unit, and the network grows with them without a master plan.

A textile group has a mill in one place, a processing unit in another and an office in the city, joined by links that a vendor installed. A pump or motor maker has an office network, a stores and dispatch network and a growing number of machines that report to the cloud. A foundry has cameras, weighbridges and attendance devices that all need an address. Over the years, equipment has been added by whoever was available, and the result is a network that works but that nobody has drawn.

The test draws it. We start from the internet to see what the plant exposes, then from a position inside to see what a visitor's laptop, a compromised PC or a contractor's device could reach. Anything that controls machinery, such as PLCs, HMIs and SCADA, stays outside our scope; we test the corporate network and the boundary where it meets the plant. The method is on the network penetration testing page, and local buyers can start with VAPT services in Coimbatore.

Many Coimbatore groups are still owner-led, so the person who approves the work is often also the person who will hear about the result. We therefore write the executive report for a manager who is not technical, and put the practical detail in a separate engineering report for whoever looks after the network.

02 / Scope

Plant and office networks that fill our Coimbatore work

Most engagements fall into one of six environments.

  • Office-to-plant boundaries

Where the corporate network meets the plant. We check what the office side can touch across that line, and what a plant-side system could touch in return.

  • Multi-unit links

Links between mills, units and the head office. We test one representative unit in depth and the shared links, then tell you which findings apply to every unit.

  • Connected-machine gateways

The boxes that send machine data to the cloud. We test how they authenticate, what they expose to the network and whether they can be reached from outside.

  • Cameras, weighbridges and biometric devices

Devices that need addresses and often keep default passwords. We find them from the network and test what they reveal or allow.

  • Internet-exposed equipment

Firewalls, VPN gateways and mail servers sit at the office and at every unit. All public addresses are listed, and firmware, settings and sign-in are tested.

  • Wi-Fi in offices and on the shop floor

Wireless is a bridge into the wired network. We test encryption and separation, and what a visitor's device could see; the wireless page covers radio testing.

03 / From our guide

From our guide: how an internal test begins and spreads

Plant owners ask what an internal test actually does. This is how our playbook describes the first two stages: landing on the network and mapping it, then capturing credentials and moving sideways.

Landing and reconnaissance

The tester is placed on the network with no credentials, the same position as an attacker who has just compromised a laptop. The first phase is passive: ARP scan to enumerate live hosts, mDNS and NBT-NS broadcasts, LLMNR poisoning to capture hashes from misconfigured Windows clients. Responder picks up plenty in most environments.

Credential capture and lateral movement

Captured NTLM hashes go to a relay attack first (the credentials are usable directly against SMB/HTTP) and to offline cracking second. We map the Active Directory with BloodHound, identifying kerberoastable accounts and unconstrained-delegation hosts. ASREPRoast picks up accounts with pre-auth disabled.

In a multi-unit group, the lateral-movement stage is where a single weak unit shows what it can do to the rest. Privilege escalation and what the report covers are in the internal network playbook.

04 / What we find

Patterns we expect in Coimbatore plant networks

Organically grown plant networks share a recognizable set of gaps.

Show details for Patterns we expect in Coimbatore plant networks
  • A line meant to carry traffic one way only. A plant segment that can still open connections toward the office network, and sometimes to the internet.
  • Devices on factory passwords. Cameras, weighbridges and attendance units that nobody has logged in to since installation.
  • Machine gateways open to the world. A cloud connector whose management page is reachable from outside the plant.
  • The same local administrator password everywhere. A password set at one unit and copied to every PC and server.
  • Remote support tunnels left open. Vendor access for machine makers that stays on all year behind a single password.
  • Backups beside what they protect. A backup server that the same accounts can reach and delete.

Units tend to be built from the same template, so a flaw found at one is probably present at the rest; the report spells out which findings repeat, letting the group roll out one fix everywhere.

05 / Rules and customers

What drives network testing for Coimbatore manufacturers

Export customers, auditors and the reporting duty all start with the network.

Buyers abroad look at their suppliers' security and ask for the date of the last network test. An ISO 27001 auditor looks for a recurring routine and findings that have been closed. A network carrying records of a large workforce is also within India's DPDP Act, from 2027.

If an incident happens, CERT-In expects notice within six hours and 180 days of retained logs; our CERT-In article lists what to prepare. A network test shows whether your logs and alerts would have caught an intruder moving from one unit to another.

06 / How it runs

Running a network test across several Coimbatore units

Access is set up once, and visits are reserved for devices and radio checks.

  1. Before day 1

    Drawing the map together

On a call we list public addresses, units and internal ranges, mark everything on the plant side that must stay untouched, and choose how the internal test begins: a VPN login, a jump host or a device a colleague connects.

  2. Day 1

    Access and shift-safe hours

You allow our addresses and set up the way in. We agree hours that avoid shift changes and dispatch peaks and confirm we can reach the first range.

  3. Days 2 to 7

    Edge, inside, and the boundary

The internet-facing devices go first, then the internal network, then the line toward the plant; anything serious is reported that day.

07 / Questions to ask

Questions a plant owner should ask a network tester

A tester serving several units must plan for repetition, and for care on the plant side.

Show details for Questions a plant owner should ask a network tester
  • How will you treat the boundary to the plant, and what will you never touch?
  • Will one unit be tested in depth, with a statement of which findings carry over to the others?
  • How will you find cameras, weighbridges and attendance devices on our network?
  • Can heavy checks avoid our shift changes and dispatch peaks?
  • Will the report be readable by an owner who is not technical?

08 / Delivery

Delivery of network tests to Coimbatore plants

Where the work happens

Testing is run from our office in Yellareddyguda, Hyderabad, which is our only office. Outside Hyderabad nothing about these tests needs us in your building; if a customer or a site rule asks for someone present, we come by arrangement and write the travel cost into the proposal.

What you receive

One report is written for management, customers and auditors, and a second, more technical one for the engineers who make the fixes. A walkthrough call covers both, and after your fixes we retest and mark each finding closed or open. Every inquiry gets a reply: we respond within 24 hours.

How to prepare

Test accounts, a staging address, our testing addresses allowed through your firewall and a named contact are what we ask for. The preparation article explains each item, and the one-page checklist (PDF) is a printable version.

09 / Price

What a network test costs a Coimbatore manufacturer

A short test of three to five public addresses is a small scope, priced from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest. Add an internal network, several units or a plant boundary and the job moves into the standard band, which begins from INR 27,000 + 18% GST and follows hosts, units and environments. The VAPT cost guide explains the factors.

The starting price for small scopes includes one free retest. For larger scopes, the retest terms are written into the proposal before work starts.

10 / FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about scope, price and how testing works. For anything else, call +91 86868 92922.

Do you test plant controllers and SCADA?

No, anything that drives machinery is out of scope, while the office network and the line where it meets the plant are in. See the section on Plant and office networks that fill our Coimbatore work above.

Can you test several units in one engagement?

Yes. We test one unit in depth and the shared links, then say which findings apply to the others, so the group can fix them everywhere at once. See the section on Plant and office networks that fill our Coimbatore work above.

How do you find cameras and attendance devices?

From the network: they show up as hosts with recognizable services, and we test which ones accept default or guessable passwords and what they reveal. See the section on Plant and office networks that fill our Coimbatore work above.

Will the test disturb production?

Not if we can help it: noisy checks wait for agreed hours between shifts, plant controllers are never touched, and the written rules name the moment we pause and call. See the section on Running a network test across several Coimbatore units above.

Does the internal test need someone in Coimbatore?

Rarely. One of three routes in is enough, and a visit is kept for devices and radio work. See the section on Delivery of network tests to Coimbatore plants above.

What should we budget?

A short external test comes from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest; internal and multi-unit tests begin from INR 27,000 + 18% GST. See the section on What a network test costs a Coimbatore manufacturer above.
