Active Directory penetration testing in Coimbatore
Active Directory in a Coimbatore mill or engineering group usually spans several units and carries accounts for ERP, payroll and shared shop-floor PCs. We trace how an ordinary login could climb to domain administrator, from Hyderabad, and the report draws every step so your team knows where to cut.

Why Coimbatore groups test Active Directory
A directory shared by several units, set up over many years, accumulates risk quietly.
A textile or engineering group typically added a unit, then another, and each came with its own IT person, its own naming and sometimes its own domain. The ERP runs under a service account created by an implementation partner. Payroll and attendance have their own logins. Shop-floor PCs share generic accounts so that operators do not have to remember passwords. A directory like this works every day, which is exactly why nobody examines it, and why a stale account or an over-generous group can sit unnoticed for a decade. We would rather you hear that from a test than from an incident.
An attacker does examine it. Starting from one stolen password, usually from a phishing mail to an office employee, the questions are the same everywhere: which accounts can I read about, which of them are powerful, and which servers trust them? The test asks them from that same starting point, and the report sketches every route as a chain. Method details are on the Active Directory penetration testing page; VAPT services in Coimbatore adds the local context.
Because the group's IT staff are often few, we pay attention to fix order. A list of forty findings is not useful to two people, so the engineering report ranks them by how many routes each fix closes, and marks the ones that can be done in an afternoon.
02 / Scope
Directory setups that fill our Coimbatore identity work
Six setups account for most of what we see.
Unit-by-unit domains
Each mill or unit with its own domain or organizational unit. We test trusts and what a unit-level administrator can reach in other units and at head office.
ERP and payroll service accounts
Accounts created by implementation partners with broad rights. We test how they are protected, what they can do and whether their credentials can be recovered.
Shared shop-floor logins
Generic accounts on production PCs. We test what they can reach, whether they expire and how far a single shared login could take an attacker.
Powerful accounts used for ordinary work
Mail and browsing under a domain-level login put the whole directory one phishing message away, so we find where those sessions happen.
Old accounts and old servers
Logins of people who left and servers nobody retired. We find which still authenticate and what they can reach.
Whether anyone would notice
Our actions are logged, and we compare them with what your directory auditing recorded.
03 / From our guide
From our guide: a hardening list and why to test first
Small IT teams ask for a short list they can act on. This is the hardening list from our guide and the argument for testing before an attacker does.
A short hardening list for IT teams
- Give every service account a long random password, or use managed service accounts.
- Randomize local administrator passwords per machine.
- Keep administrator accounts out of everyday use and away from workstations.
- Audit certificate templates and who can enroll.
- Turn on SMB and LDAP signing and reduce NTLM use.
- Review who can create objects and write to sensitive attributes in each organizational unit.
- Alert on Kerberos ticket requests for many service accounts at once, and on changes to privileged groups.
Test it before someone else does
Our engineers map and test these paths by hand, starting from an ordinary employee account or a device on your network, and explain each step so your team can close it. See Active Directory penetration testing, the broader network penetration testing, or request a scoping call.
Several items on the list cost nothing except attention, which suits a group with a small IT team. The attack paths behind each item are in the full Active Directory article.
04 / What we find
Patterns we expect in Coimbatore group directories
Groups with several units leave recognizable marks on a directory.
Show details for Patterns we expect in Coimbatore group directories
- A unit administrator with group-wide power. An IT person at one mill who is, by an old group membership, an administrator everywhere.
- ERP service accounts with domain rights. An account created for an implementation that can log on to many servers.
- Generic logins on shop-floor PCs. Shared accounts with passwords written on the machine and no expiry.
- Former staff still enabled. Accounts of employees, vendors and implementers who left years ago and can still sign in.
- Domain controllers reachable from every unit. Management ports open from shop-floor networks.
- No alert on privileged changes. A new member of a powerful group that nobody is told about.
The first fixes are usually free: disable accounts nobody can name, remove people from groups they never needed, and give the ERP account the rights its job requires. The report lists them first so a small team can begin the same week.
05 / Rules and customers
What drives Active Directory testing for Coimbatore manufacturers
Customers, auditors and the law all look at who can reach what.

Export customers ask how access to systems that touch their data is controlled, and auditors working toward ISO 27001 ask the same about privileged accounts. Payroll and HR systems behind the directory hold staff records, and India's 2023 data protection law expects reasonable safeguards for them once its rules begin in 2027; DPDP Act testing shows where we fit.
The wider threat picture is in our 2026 threats article, which explains why identity is where a modern intrusion spreads, and the report can list which of our steps your logs recorded.
06 / How it runs
Running a directory test across Coimbatore units
We begin as an ordinary office employee, since that is where most intrusions begin.
Show details for Running a directory test across Coimbatore units
Before day 1
Listing domains and units
A call lists every domain, unit and trust the group knows about, sets what stays off limits and picks the entry: a VPN login, or a small device that someone at head office plugs in.
Day 1
A plain account and a rule for admin access
An ordinary user account is set up and our addresses admitted. A written note records how far administrator rights may be used if we get them, and how to prove access without exercising it.
Days 2 to 7
Mapping the climb
Accounts, groups, trusts and permissions are charted across units, weak points are joined into routes toward domain administrator, and serious exposure is reported that same day.

07 / Questions to ask
Questions a group with several units should ask a directory tester
The answers tell you whether the tester will understand an estate like yours.
- Will you map every domain and trust, including units we have not documented?
- How will you test whether a unit administrator can reach the other units?
- How will you treat the ERP and payroll service accounts?
- What happens to any administrator access you reach?
- Will the report rank fixes so a two-person IT team can start at once?
08 / Delivery
Delivery of directory tests to Coimbatore groups
Where the work happens
Testing is run from our office in Yellareddyguda, Hyderabad, which is our only office. Outside Hyderabad nothing about these tests needs us in your building; if a customer or a site rule asks for someone present, we come by arrangement and write the travel cost into the proposal.
What you receive
One report is written for management, customers and auditors, and a second, more technical one for the engineers who make the fixes. A walkthrough call covers both, and after your fixes we retest and mark each finding closed or open. Every inquiry gets a reply: we respond within 24 hours.
How to prepare
Test accounts, a staging address, our testing addresses allowed through your firewall and a named contact are what we ask for. The preparation article explains each item, and the one-page checklist (PDF) is a printable version.
09 / Price
What directory testing costs a Coimbatore group
Counting as a standard-band job, directory work begins from INR 27,000 + 18% GST, and the final figure follows domains, units and estate size. One proposal can cover it together with an internal network test. The VAPT cost guide explains the factors.
The starting price for small scopes includes one free retest. For larger scopes, the retest terms are written into the proposal before work starts.
10 / FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about scope, price and how testing works. For anything else, call +91 86868 92922.
Do you test directories that span several mills?
Yes. We map the domains and trusts across units, test what a unit-level administrator can reach elsewhere and report which findings apply to every unit. See the section on Directory setups that fill our Coimbatore identity work above.
What account do you need from us?
An ordinary user account without special rights, plus a place on the network: a VPN login, or a device that someone at head office plugs in. See the section on Running a directory test across Coimbatore units above.
Will you touch production servers?
Changes are kept to a minimum: any that a proof requires are approved beforehand, recorded and reversed, and live data is never touched. See the section on Questions a group with several units should ask a directory tester above.
Can you test our ERP service accounts?
Yes: their protection, their rights and the chance of recovering their credentials from a workstation or server are all examined. See the section on Directory setups that fill our Coimbatore identity work above.
Our IT team is only two people. Is the report usable?
Yes. The engineering report ranks fixes by the number of routes each one closes and marks the quick ones, so a small team can start with the most valuable. See the section on Patterns we expect in Coimbatore group directories above.
What should we budget?
Plan on a start from INR 27,000 + 18% GST, rising with domains, units and the size of the estate. See the section on What directory testing costs a Coimbatore group above.
