Active Directory penetration testing in Kochi
IT firms, hospital groups and NBFCs in Kochi sign in through Active Directory, and so does anyone holding a stolen password. We map the routes from an ordinary account up to domain administrator, working from Hyderabad, and show each step so your team can cut the chain.

01 / Local need
Why Kochi organizations test Active Directory
One directory often serves many sites, vendors and years of changes.
An IT firm at Infopark has accounts for projects that ended and for contractors who left. A hospital group runs one directory for clinical, billing and administrative staff across several buildings. An NBFC with branches across Kerala has a directory that reaches every branch PC, and service accounts for the systems that handle repayments. In each case the directory grew by accumulation, and the risky parts are the ones nobody has looked at in years.
The test starts as an ordinary employee, from a VPN login or a device a colleague connects, and the rest is done remotely. We keep a log of every action, so the report can list which of them your directory auditing noticed. The Active Directory penetration testing page holds the method and VAPT services in Kochi the local picture.
It is worth deciding in advance who will receive the findings on the day. In many Kochi organizations the directory is run by one or two people, sometimes at an outside provider, and the owner of the business hears about it only through a summary. We write the executive report for that second reader, in plain language, and keep the technical detail for the engineering report, so each person gets what they can act on.
02 / Scope
Kochi directories that dominate our identity work
Six setups account for nearly all of it.
IT firms with project accounts
Logins for clients and for work that has ended pile up. We find which stale ones still function, what rights they hold and whether any reach production.
Hospital group directories
One directory across several buildings. We test which accounts reach clinical and billing servers and how far a front-desk account could travel.
NBFC branch directories
Branch PCs, service accounts for repayment systems and shared branch logins. We test how a branch account could climb to head-office rights.
Service and scheduled-task accounts
Logins with ancient passwords are the simplest prize, so we look at their protection, their reach and whether an attacker could crack their tickets offline.
Administrators in everyday use
Domain-level accounts used for mail and browsing. We trace where privileged sessions start and what a single infected laptop would give away.
Cloud-synced identity
Directories synced to a cloud tenant. We test the sync account and the routes from on-premises users into cloud roles.
03 / From our guide
From our guide: the classic paths and what you receive
Most compromises need no new vulnerability, only ordinary weaknesses chained together. This is how our guide lists the common chains and the deliverable.
The classic paths still work
Most Active Directory compromises in assessments do not need a new vulnerability. They chain ordinary weaknesses:
- Kerberoasting. Any user can request service tickets for accounts with a service principal name and crack the password offline. Service accounts with weak passwords and old settings are the usual prize.
- AS-REP roasting. Accounts that do not require Kerberos pre-authentication can be attacked the same way.
- Password spraying. One common password tried against every account, slowly enough to avoid lockout.
- Delegation and permission abuse. Unconstrained delegation, over-broad rights on user and group objects and nested groups give a path that BloodHound can map from a low-privilege user to Domain Admins.
- Credential reuse. A local administrator password that is the same on every workstation turns one machine into all of them.
What an Active Directory assessment delivers
- A map of the attack paths from a normal user to Domain Admins, shown as the chain of steps, not a list of isolated findings.
- Proof of what could be reached: which servers, which data, which accounts.
- A fix list in order of effect, because removing one permission often breaks several paths at once.
- A retest to confirm the paths are closed.
For Kochi teams, the usual first outcome is a short list of stale accounts and over-powered groups that can be removed within a week. The newest attack paths and a hardening list for IT teams sit in the 2026 Active Directory article.
04 / What we find
Weak points we expect in Kochi directories
Campuses, hospitals and lenders leave recognizable marks on a directory.
Show details for Weak points we expect in Kochi directories
- Project accounts that never close. Client and contractor logins from finished work that still authenticate years later.
- Shared branch logins. Generic logins on branch PCs that no one can trace to a person and that never lapse.
- Broad groups for support staff. A help-desk group that can reset passwords for privileged users.
- Service accounts with old passwords. Repayment and billing system logins whose password hashes can be recovered offline.
- Directory servers reachable from everywhere. Controllers open to every branch and guest network on every management port.
- Little alerting. Many Kerberos ticket requests or a change to a privileged group that raises no alert.
Quick wins, like closing stale accounts, are listed apart from larger redesigns, like rethinking support rights, so the first group can begin straight away.
A word on pace. Hospital groups and lenders rarely get a long maintenance window for the directory, so changes tend to wait for a quiet weekend that never arrives. We suggest the first fixes be the ones that need no downtime: disabling the accounts of people who have left, removing members of powerful groups who no longer need them, and setting long random passwords on service accounts that can tolerate a restart. The report marks which fixes belong in that group, so a small team can make visible progress in the first week, and the retest then has something real to confirm.
05 / Rules and customers
What drives Active Directory testing for Kochi organizations
Audits, regulators and clients abroad all look at identity.
Show details for What drives Active Directory testing for Kochi organizations
ISO 27001 auditors want to know how privileged access is governed and checked, clients abroad ask IT firms the same, and lenders and hospitals follow their own regulators' directions, which compliance staff should read. Where personal data sits behind the directory, the rules under India's DPDP Act, starting in 2027, expect reasonable safeguards: see DPDP Act testing.
Why identity comes first is explained in our article on 2026 threats, and the report can name the steps of ours that your logs captured.
06 / How it runs
How a directory test fits a Kochi estate
We start as an ordinary employee, and everything after the first call is remote.
Show details for How a directory test fits a Kochi estate
Before day 1
Scope and entry
Domains and sites are listed, off-limits systems agreed, and the entry chosen: a staff VPN login, or a device that a colleague connects.
Day 1
Account and ground rules
A plain user account is created and our addresses let through. Before we start, we settle what administrator rights may be used for if reached, and how to demonstrate that safely.
Days 2 to 7
Mapping, then chaining
Accounts, groups, trusts and permissions are mapped, and the weak points are linked into routes toward domain administrator; serious exposure is reported the same day.

07 / Questions to ask
What to ask a directory tester in Kochi
Estates with many branches and many years need a few specific answers.
- How will you test whether a branch account can climb to head-office rights?
- Do you test which old project and contractor logins still authenticate?
- If you reach administrator rights, what are the limits on using them?
- Can the report list which of your actions our directory logs captured?
- Does the report split quick fixes from structural redesigns?
08 / Delivery
Delivery of directory tests to Kochi organizations
Where the work happens
Testing is run from our office in Yellareddyguda, Hyderabad, which is our only office. Outside Hyderabad nothing about these tests needs us in your building; if a customer or a site rule asks for someone present, we come by arrangement and write the travel cost into the proposal.
What you receive
One report is written for management, customers and auditors, and a second, more technical one for the engineers who make the fixes. A walkthrough call covers both, and after your fixes we retest and mark each finding closed or open. Every inquiry gets a reply: we respond within 24 hours.
How to prepare
Test accounts, a staging address, our testing addresses allowed through your firewall and a named contact are what we ask for. The preparation article explains each item, and the one-page checklist (PDF) is a printable version.
09 / Price
Directory testing costs in Kochi
Directory work sits outside the small-scope band and begins from INR 27,000 + 18% GST, with domains, sites and the size of the estate setting the final figure. One proposal often covers it together with an internal network test, and the VAPT cost guide lists the pricing factors.
The starting price for small scopes includes one free retest. For larger scopes, the retest terms are written into the proposal before work starts.

Frequently asked questions
Short answers about scope, price and how testing works. For anything else, call +91 86868 92922.
What do you need to start a directory test for a Kochi company?
A basic user account with no special rights and a network position, either a staff VPN login or a device a colleague connects. We work as an ordinary employee would. See the section on How a directory test fits a Kochi estate above.
Do you test branch directories separately?
Yes. We test whether a branch account can climb to head-office rights and whether head office reaches branch PCs more than it should. See the section on Kochi directories that dominate our identity work above.
Will you change anything in our directory?
Changes are avoided. If proving a route needs one, it is agreed first, logged and reversed, and production data is never altered. See the section on What to ask a directory tester in Kochi above.
Can you test stale accounts from finished projects?
Yes. We check which of them still authenticate, what they can reach and how departures are handled. See the section on Kochi directories that dominate our identity work above.
Is this different from a network test?
It looks at identity: accounts, groups and permissions. A network test finds exposed services and weak segmentation. They are often scoped together. See the section on From our guide: the classic paths and what you receive above.
What should we budget?
Plan on a start from INR 27,000 + 18% GST, climbing with domains, sites and the size of the estate. See the section on Directory testing costs in Kochi above.
