Network penetration testing in Chennai
Chennai's networks join head offices to plants, bank branches to data centers and exporters to clients overseas, with VPNs and firewalls at every join. BERRY9 tests the external edge and the inside, remotely from Hyderabad, our only office, and visits Chennai sites by arrangement when a test needs a physical presence.

01 / Local need
Why Chennai companies test their networks
The joins between sites, plants and partners are where the weak points hide.
A manufacturer with plants around Sriperumbudur and Oragadam and a head office in the city runs links between them, plus a boundary between the office network and the plant floor. A bank has branches and a data center connected over private links. An IT exporter has a development network that connects to its clients' networks through tunnels. Every join is a decision someone made once, and the question a test answers is what an intruder who enters at one end could reach at the other.
Internal testing can be remote as well: a colleague plugs in a small device that connects out to us, or you create a VPN account of an ordinary employee, and a plant or branch that wants someone present can have a visit by arrangement. The network penetration testing page sets out the service, and VAPT services in Chennai speaks to buyers here.
02 / Scope
Estates behind most of our Chennai network work
Six kinds of environment account for most of it.
Office and plant boundaries
The link between the corporate network and a plant. We test what the office side can reach on the boundary and what a plant system could reach back; controllers on the plant floor are outside our scope.
Branch and site networks
Many small sites with the same design. We test one representative site in depth and the central links that all of them share.
Internet-facing devices
Firewalls, VPN gateways and mail servers at the head office and each site. We list every public address and test firmware, settings and authentication.
Tunnels to clients and partners
Links to overseas clients and to partner banks. We test what your side puts on the tunnel and whether partner traffic can wander further than intended.
Data-center and hosting estates
Management networks and shared services. We test who can reach them and which accounts can administer them.
Wireless and guest access
Office and plant Wi-Fi and guest networks. We test the encryption and the separation, and what a visitor's device can see; the wireless page covers radio testing in detail.
03 / From our guide
From our guide: which test to start with
Chennai estates with several sites often ask which test to buy first. This is the part of our guide that answers it.
Which one should you start with?
- No test so far, and a public presence: start with external, which is faster and cheaper, and fix what it finds.
- A compliance requirement or a customer questionnaire: usually both are expected, with the report showing scope and method.
- A breach scare, a merger or a remote workforce: start with internal, because the question is what an insider-level attacker could reach.
- Many offices or plants: test a representative site first, then repeat for others with a shorter scope.
For a company with a head office and plants, the usual answer is the external test first, then one internal test at the head office, then a smaller test at a plant boundary. The external side, and how tool output differs from a test, are covered in the complete guide.
04 / What we find
Patterns we keep seeing in Chennai networks
Multi-site estates repeat their design errors at every site.
Show details for Patterns we keep seeing in Chennai networks
- A boundary that was meant to be one-way. A plant segment that can still start connections toward the office network.
- The same local administrator password everywhere. A password set at one plant and copied across every workstation and server.
- Remote vendor access left on. Support tunnels for equipment and software vendors that stay open all year behind a single password.
- Branch routers with default settings. Management pages reachable from the branch LAN with the factory login.
- Outdated edge firmware. A firewall or VPN gateway that has missed several updates because a change window never came.
- Backups on the same network. Backup servers reachable with the same accounts as everything they protect.
Because the same design is copied to many sites, one finding at a representative site usually applies to all, and the report says so, so the fix can be rolled out everywhere.
05 / Rules and customers
What drives network testing for Chennai companies
Customers, auditors and incident-reporting duties all point at the network.
Show details for What drives network testing for Chennai companies
Large customers review suppliers' security and ask when the network was last tested. Auditors working with ISO 27001 look for a regular routine and for fixed findings, and a bank, or a supplier to one, works to its regulator's own directions, so those are the first thing to read.
CERT-In expects incidents to be reported within six hours and logs to be retained for 180 days; our CERT-In article has the detail. A network test tells you whether your logs would have shown an intruder's movement in time, and the report can say which of our steps your tools noticed.
06 / How it runs
How a network test fits a Chennai multi-site estate
Access is set up once, and a plant needs a visit only when a test requires a physical device.

Before day 1
Scope and route in
We list the public addresses, the sites and the internal ranges to test, and decide how the internal test starts: a staff VPN login, a jump host or a compact device that a colleague connects.
Day 1
Access and hours
You allow our fixed addresses and set up the way in. We agree testing hours that stay clear of shift changes and month-end, and confirm that the first range answers.
Days 2 to 7
Edge first, then inside
We test the internet-facing devices, then the inside, and the boundary to plants if in scope, reporting anything serious that day.

07 / Questions to ask
What to ask a network tester serving several sites
Multi-site estates need a tester who plans for repetition.
Show details for What to ask a network tester serving several sites
- Will you test one site in depth and tell us which findings apply to the others?
- How will you treat the boundary between the office network and the plant?
- How will you reach our network without sending someone to every site?
- Will you check vendor tunnels and backup servers as well as the main network?
- Can you run heavy checks clear of our shift changes?
08 / Delivery
Delivery of network tests for Chennai sites
Where the work happens
Testing is run from our office in Yellareddyguda, Hyderabad, which is our only office. Outside Hyderabad nothing about these tests needs us in your building; if a customer or a site rule asks for someone present, we come by arrangement and write the travel cost into the proposal.
What you receive
One report is written for management, customers and auditors, and a second, more technical one for the engineers who make the fixes. A walkthrough call covers both, and after your fixes we retest and mark each finding closed or open. Every inquiry gets a reply: we respond within 24 hours.
How to prepare
Test accounts, a staging address, our testing addresses allowed through your firewall and a named contact are what we ask for. The preparation article explains each item, and the one-page checklist (PDF) is a printable version.
09 / Price
Budgeting a network test in Chennai
A handful of public addresses, three to five, fit a small scope that comes from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest. Tests covering an internal network, several sites or a plant boundary begin from INR 27,000 + 18% GST and follow hosts, sites and environments. See the VAPT cost guide.
The starting price for small scopes includes one free retest. For larger scopes, the retest terms are written into the proposal before work starts.
10 / FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about scope, price and how testing works. For anything else, call +91 86868 92922.
Do you test plant networks and controllers?
We test the head-office network and its edge toward the plant floor. PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and other controllers are not part of our scope. See the section on Estates behind most of our Chennai network work above.
Can you test several sites and branches?
Yes. We usually test one representative site in depth, plus the central links all sites share, and extend to others with a shorter scope. See the section on Estates behind most of our Chennai network work above.
Must someone from BERRY9 be on site in Chennai for an internal test?
Not usually. A staff VPN login, a jump host, or a compact device connected by a colleague will do. See the section on How a network test fits a Chennai multi-site estate above.
Do you test links to overseas clients and partner banks?
We test your side: what the tunnel exposes and whether partner traffic can go further than intended. The other party's systems are off limits without their written permission. See the section on Estates behind most of our Chennai network work above.
Will the test disturb production or shift work?
We plan to avoid it: heavy checks run in agreed hours clear of shift changes, and the written rules say when we stop and call you. See the section on What to ask a network tester serving several sites above.
How is a network test priced?
Small external tests come from INR 9,000 + 18% GST for small scopes such as 3 to 5 external IP addresses or a simple WordPress website, including a vulnerability scan, manual checks, a written report and one free retest; internal and multi-site tests begin from INR 27,000 + 18% GST. See the section on Budgeting a network test in Chennai above.
